When we were adopted by Yaks in October of 2003, we become completely and unabashedly addicted to Yaks.  They're beautiful, intelligent, and absolutely fascinating,

Within these pages you can get a glimpse into a Yak lover's world.  We hope that you'll enjoy yourself, and that you'll invite your friends and neighbors to visit here, too, for as long as this website remains online.

The Yaks got on well with the Pygmy Goats, Pete the Donkey, Huey the Gander and Hildegard the Goose.  They all shared the pastures, creek, and water troughs without any major trauma or upset.

Even the indoor Critters who could only see the Yaks through window glass became mesmerized by them.  They spent endless hours Yak-watching from the windowsills.

Yaks are great fun.  Here are a few shots of them going about their daily business.

Like clockwork, the Yaks showed up in our front yard at dawn and dusk.  It was mealtime, of course.  Yaks require no special fencing and one third less acreage than cattle.  They thrive under virtually any weather conditions and are disease resistant.  Crossbreeding Yaks with cattle produces fertile female and sterile male offspring, but why would anyone want to dilute those gorgeous genes?!!?  They are very quiet, but do communicate verbally in a guttural, low pitched Yak language.  We call it "Uumphing".  They are mild mannered, friendly Critters who enjoy being petted and groomed.  Our last remaining Yaks, Beatrice, Babbette, and Delilah, have all been adopted.  We're now officially Yakless and desolate.

Beatrice and Babbette, sisters, have found a permanent home with Delilah (see below).

Delilah is a delightful darling!  Our only bottle-fed baby, and Petey's adopted daughter, she's been adopted by a truly good human!
